The State of a Nation
THE CONSEQUENCE OF THE CHRIST

When casting out demons, and the Pharisees criticised Him as being in league with Satan to get such results, Jesus publicly answers their request for a supernatural sign to authenticate His messianic identity by speaking about the response to His ministry of "this generation" (the people Israel) –
Matthew 12:39-42.
"When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, but finds none. Then it says,
'I will return to my house from which I came.' And when it comes, it finds the house empty, swept, and put in order.
Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and
they enter and dwell there, and the last state of that person is worse than the first.
So also will it be with this evil generation."
Matthew 12:43-45.
The effect
of the unique and Spirit-anointed ministry of the Christ to the Jewish people of Palestine (as the representative portion of Abraham's descendants by Isaac), which later results in His humiliating public crucifixion, did not leave Israel in the same state as He had found them at His coming, as Jesus had prophesied above to their spiritual leaders of the time (the Pharisees).

Note: Christ's warning to Israel after His 3-years of ministry that they were now standing before the 'cutting-down'/terminating of their nation before God (in Luke 13:6-9).

Acts 3:13.
But
this fearful anticipation of a seven-fold deterioration in the state of their nation was not immediately fulfilled. God the Merciful took into account the shallow perceptions of even those who encountered Jesus directly. Therefore, in Israel's great temple, after the awesome instant-healing of the well-known lame beggar at its gate caused such a stir in its crowded court, the apostle Peter tried to give refocus to the people, that he should not himself be credited with this miracle but uniquely Jesus –
"whom you delivered over and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release Him."
With unflinching
courage, Peter calls the people of Israel to public repentance (you who "killed the Author of life") and by the Holy Spirit he extends this special opportunity for national repentance on the basis that –

"...you acted in ignorance, as did also your rulers..."
Acts 3:15, 17.
But sadly,
as the Lord Christ had Himself anticipated, this special Jerusalem opportunity of the post-Pentecost witness to the nation nevertheless still bore the bitter fruit of the public stoning to death of righteous Stephen,
after he had presented his God-inspired accusation/charge against the nation to its leaders in the Jewish Sanhedrin.
So . . .
Acts 7.

AD/CE 45 Famine in Judaea
48 HEROD AGRIPPA II receives the right to appoint the Jewish high priests.
53 Governor FELIX bribes Jews to murder their high priest JONATHAN in the Temple; thereafter many murders begin to occur among crowds at the Jewish Temple feasts (Jos. Ant. 20.8).
59 A class war breaks out between the Jewish high priests and the Jewish priests in Jerusalem.
60 Pharisees exclude Sadducees from entering the Jerusalem Temple.
62 JAMES (the Just), brother of the Lord JESUS Christ and leader of the Jerusalem Christian church, is executed by the Jewish leaders on instruction of their High Priest ANANUS ( חנן בן חנן/Hanan ben Hanan, Thiede, 1996, p.89-90), probably by public stoning.
63 In Caesarea, Palestine Jews gather to protest about systematic discrimination against them, clash with local Greek citizens and a riot breaks out. Roman Governor (Procurator) FELIX (himself a Greek) responds with extreme repression against the Jews using the army. Over a number of days many Jews are killed and their property plundered. This causes such controversy that an enquiry is heard in Rome before Emperor NERO who finds in favour of the Greeks and the Governor is declared not guilty. (Jos. Jewish War, Book 2.266).
66 August: In Palestine The extreme Zealots, the Jewish Sicari ('dagger men') of MENAHEM, attack Masada, seize weapons, and march against the Roman garrison in Jerusalem.
November 17: GALLUS arrives with his troops at Jerusalem, takes control of its undefended northern suburb, and attacks the Temple mount controlled by the Zealots. Heavy fighting ensues.
67 Jewish faction fighting worsens.
September: 6,000 of the strongest young Jewish men captured by VESPASIAN are dispatched as slaves from Tiberius to Greece to help dig Caesar NERO's canal through the Isthmus of Corinth (Jewish War 3:540).
68 Jewish Zealots cut the throats of their high priests (Josephus War.7.8) so as to use the Temple as a military fortress.
69 The Jewish Zealots of Jerusalem slaughter anyone found outside its walls; on suspicion of attempted defection.
70 March: Jerusalem The Roman army of the fifth, tenth, twelfth, and fifteen legions arrive, dig a trench and build a 7 kilometre (4 miles) earth wall entirely around the city punctuated by 13 forts, in three days. Anyone caught trying to escape is crucified, atop this earth wall, facing the city.
September: Roman troops demolish Jerusalem and its Temple after a siege of 134 days.
Josephus, an eyewitness, claims that during the siege 1,100,000 Jewish people are killed and 97,000 sold as slaves. But the majority were not residents of Jerusalem as many had come to the city to offer the Jewish Passover sacrifice in family/friendship groups before the Roman army sealed the city's perimeter (Jewish War, Book VI, 9.3).
But sadly Jewish nationalism rises elsewhere, and from 114 to 117 Jews rebel violently against Roman rule in North Africa and Cyprus and they massacre many non-Jews.
135 And so the tragedy continues with fake-messiah Bar Koseba and consequent further suffering under Hadrian, and so on . . .

[Even the present prayer place at Jerusalem's Wailing Wall (Kotel/Buraq) is the product of false messiah David Reuveni (sometimes spelled Reubeni) who in 1523 AD/CE changed the prayer place for Jewish pilgrims from the Biblically appropriate Mount of Olives and eastern gates of Temple Mount to the stones of Hadrian's wall, built of the ruins of a city ploughed over by Rome, to support his pagan temple to Jupiter (where Al-Aksa now stands), now fraudulently presented as the authentic remains of a Jewish Jerusalem].

And so,
as far as Israel's Jewish nationhood applied, years before this, the holy words of the Apostle Paul declare for our understanding –
"...the Jews, who killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets and also drove us out. They displease God and are hostile to all men in their effort to keep us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved. In this way they always heap up their sins to the limit.
The wrath of God has come upon them fully."
1 Thessalonians 2:14-16
And
this, from a Christian Jew of the tribe of Benjamin who later wrote from his heart –
"I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, those of my own race, the people of Israel."
Romans 9:2-3.
Then,
lest non-Jewish Christians in any way think themselves superior, he states clearly –
"Lest you be wise in your own conceits, I want you to understand this mystery, [my Gentile] brothers:
a partial hardening has come upon Israel, until the fullness
[full number] of the Gentiles has come in [to the grace of God]
And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written,
'The Deliverer will come from Zion, He will banish ungodliness from Jacob';
'and this will be My covenant with them when I take away their sins'."
Romans 11:25-27.
So the Bible says
that, when the mission of Christ's life through HIs followers in this world is completed, as Jesus Himself prophesied –
"this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations,
and THEN the end will come."
Matthew 24:14
Then
the end will come in the coming of this same Christ, and herein alone is the national restoration of a repentant Israel, as their prophet Zechariah had long before foretold them in detail "when they look on Me, on Him whom they have pierced". . .
Zechariah 12:6-13:1.
'Til then, every Jewish person must deal with the absolute equality before God of all people under sin,
and in the totally unmerited grace of God applied individually to every repentant believer, without any form of racial priority.
