16: In the UK – The United Kingdom government issues a policy called 'British Indian Ocean Territory Immigration Ordinance #1' which makes it a criminal offense for those without military clearance to be on the Chagos islands (including Diego Garcia) without a permit, thereby expelling all the indigenous inhabitants of the Chagos Islands without compensation in order for the United Sates to build a military base on Diego Garcia. (A 1966 leaked diplomatic cable referring to the Chagos Islanders disparagingly as 'Tarzans' and 'Men Fridays' reveals the nature of the US–UK discourse on the local inhabitants).

2015: Prof Philippe Sands QC, of Matrix Chambers, who was lead external counsel for Mauritius before the United Nations Tribunal, says after its ruling in favour of Mauritius: "This is a historic and far-reaching judgment: for Mauritius, for Africa, for the international rule of law. It offers hope that Mauritius and Britain will be able to move forward to bring to an end an unhappy legacy of colonialism in the Chagos archipelago and Diego Garcia. It opens the door to a return to legality, in relation to matters of sovereignty and the conservation of a remarkable environmental space."
Britain acted illegally in the way it has exercised territorial control over the Chagos Islands, a UN tribunal rules, raising questions over the UK’s claim to sovereignty and offering hope of return to hundreds of evicted islanders.

the USA – Ex-FBI informant (aka 'Michael King') Jewish Zionist activist Rabbi (Martin David) MEIR KAHANE is arrested for criminal activities. (See 1968). (Kahane and other Jewish Defense League members are arrested on illegal weapons charges and bomb possession. Police also suspect Rabbi Kahane's involvement in a series of previous bombings at Soviet installations. Kahane denies all charges but is sentenced on 23 July 1971 to five years' imprisonment, suspended, and a $5,000 fine. These events and court trial do not mellow Kahane's virulent rhetoric but hasten his departure to Israel where his animosity finds its new focus on the Palestinians)

13: In the USA – The New York Times begins publishing articles based on the secret report "U.S. Decision-Making in Vietnam, 1945–68" or Pentagon Papers (as the McNamara report came to be known) leaked by DANIEL ELLSBERG, and the U.S. Department of Justice obtains a restraining order against the newspaper.
After more than two weeks of legal wrangling, the Supreme Court rules that the federal government had not made the case for prior restraint of publication.

(Ellsberg
is indicted under the Espionage Act, and the charges leveled against him could have resulted in up to 115 years in prison. The trial against Ellsberg, which begins in January 1973, lasts four months and concludes with the dismissal of all charges after evidence of gross governmental misconduct comes to light. In 2006 he received the Right Livelihood Award, an honour that bills itself as the "alternative Nobel Prize." He was a vocal proponent of the media organization WikiLeaks, and Julian Assange, that group's founder, cited Ellsberg as an inspiration for its creation.)

My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
"
Irwin leaves NASA and retires from the U.S. Air Force with the rank of Colonel in 1972 and founds the High Flight Foundation, spending his last 20 years as a "Goodwill Ambassador for the Prince of Peace", stating that "Jesus walking on the earth is more important than man walking on the moon". He frequently speaks about how his experiences in space has made the presence of God even more real to him than before.

West Bank, Palestine – HUSSEIN FARAHAT dies, survived by five children, but his seven-dunam/1.75 acre plot of land is later taken over by Jewish settlers, through a forged deed of sale ('bought' by a company owned by the wife of Rabbi Zalman Baruch Melamed, later head of the Beit El yeshiva, and the wife of MK Yaakov Katz, National Union party), who establish the Beit El Jewish settlement.
The Ulpana illegal Jewish outpost is an extension of this settlement on stolen land.
(Hassin Farahat, one of the late Hussein Farahat's sons, who comes back to his village in 1999 after living in the United States, asks to join the legal process concerning the fake sale. His attorney, Alaa Makhjana, notes that his client believes that the forgers thought they could get away with it because the family had left for the United States. He says his client is well aware of the attempts of the Jewish settlers to take over the family land for political reasons.)

(A few days later, a chief police commissioner seizes information concerning 26 potential crisis scenarios for the Munich Olympics, which had been prepared by a police psychologist to aid in preparing a security concept for the games. One of the scenarios involved an attack by Palestinian terrorists at the Olympic village. When the Bavarian state intelligence agency inquires after the materials, police officials acknowledge that they had been created and discussed during preparatory seminars ahead of the Olympics, but indicate that a written record is "not available". The documents are still missing today.)

A Tanzanian fisherman who happens to see the South African submarine is shot dead by its commander Lambert Woodburne. While making the pick up rendezvous, the submarine also snags a fishing net and sinks the fishing vessel dragging the net. This mission earns Lt Cdr Woodburne South Africa's Van Riebeeck Decoration in spite of his murder of an unarmed civilian.

Mossad agents, including two women, are captured by Norwegian authorities while the rest of the team flee, assisted by Norwegian intelligence services. Mossad agents Dan Ert (Ærbel) and Marianne Gladnikoff had rented cars in their own name and were arrested when they returned the cars. Under interrogation, they provided the address of a Mossad safe house and four other agents are arrested. One member of the hit squad, Sylvia Raphael, was using the identity of Canadian Patricia Roxborough, a legal secretary whose passport had been stolen months earlier from the desk of her Montreal office. Sylvia is arrested with Abraham Gehmer. (Mossad assassination squads known as kidon, routinely use the identity of real people who are unaware their names are being used).
Five
agents are convicted 1 February 1974 (Dorf acquitted) and later sentenced to prison terms ranging from two and a half to five years but all are released within 22 months and deported to Israel. Under interrogation Dan Ærbel leaks information about the Israeli nuclear weapons program but the Norwegian authorities decided not to disclose it.
(In 1994
the Norwegian government is advised that the widow of Bouchikhi had not received any compensation from Norway or any other country for the state-sponsored assassination of her husband. This leads to Norwegian diplomatic contact with Israel on the issue and in 1996 the Israeli government pays compensation equal to US$283,000 split between Bouchiki's wife and daughter, and a separate settlement of US$118,000 to his son from a previous marriage, but has never admitted responsibility for Bouchiki's vicious murder. It took Israel 23-years to pay and only after Norway put pressure on Israel. Without this Norwegian initiative, Israel would probably not have given compensation).
The Lillehammer affair is considered the first terrorist act on Norwegian soil in the post-war period.

But
Intelligence Community Standing Order no.6 specifically bars the NSA from generating ‘final intelligence assessments’ and her presentation to the CIA’s Middle East expert SAMUEL HOSKINSON is therefore not accepted by him. (no.6 since amended)

However,
the Israeli government still does not prepare for an attack or call up the reserves (which would have given Israel a 30-hour advantage), but Zamir's phone call and then his telegram to his bureau chief, Fredi Eini, and a message from Eini to Israel's leaders eventually changes their minds.

Medical doctor WOUTER BASSON is appointed head of Project Coast and sent overseas to collect needed information. Consequently, at a company in Midrand called Delta G Scientific, researchers work (unsuccessfully) to find an infertility ‘vaccine’ to be used on black women without their knowledge; to find substances that could kill people leaving no trace post mortem (a powder is produced which absorbed through the skin if placed spread on a toilet seat would produce a heart-attack-death of 'natural cause'); and where tons of teargas, ecstasy and mandrax are produced.

In Israel – CLAUDE KLEIN, Director of the Institute of Comparative Law of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, writes –
"If the Jewish people are easily the most numerous in the State of Israel, by the same token, one can still say that the entire population of the State of Israel is not Jewish, as the country has a sizeable non-Jewish minority, mainly Arab and Druze. The question which must be asked is to what extent the existence of a Law of Return which favours the immigration of one part of the population (defined by its religious and ethnic adherence), cannot be regarded as discriminatory" and concludes that because it is not specifically directed against non-Jews it is therefore not discriminatory.
(Published as: The Jewish Character of the State of Israel, Ed.Cujas, Paris 1977).

IRVING, 'historian' and admirer of HITLER, quotes (in defending Hitler from Holocaust accusations) in a footnote at page 851 of this year's edition of Hitler's War, a passage extracted from notes made by VON RIBBENTROP while held in the prison at Nuremberg:
"...that [Hitler] ordered [the destruction of the Jews] I refuse to believe, because such an act would be wholly incompatible with the picture I always had of him".
However, IRVING chooses to deliberately omit the immediately following passage in VON RIBBENTROP's notes which reads –
"On the other hand, judging from [Hitler's] Last Will, one must suppose that he at least knew about it, if, in his fanaticism against the Jews, he didn't also order [it]".

The Security Council,
Having heard the statement of the Permanent Representative of Jordan and other statements made before the Council,
Stressing the urgent need to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in the Middle East,
Affirming once more that the Fourth Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War of 12 August 1949 1/ is applicable to the Arab territories occupied by Israel since 1967, including Jerusalem,

2.
Strongly deplores the failure of Israel to abide by Security Council resolutions 237 (1967) of 14 June 1967, 252 (1968) of 21 May 1968 and 298 (1971) of 25 September 1971 and the consensus statement by the President of the Security Council on 11 November 1976 2/ and General Assembly resolutions 2253 (ES-V) and 2254 (ES-V) of 4 and 14 July 1967, 32/5 of 28 October 1977 and 33/113 of 18 December 1978;
3.
Calls once more upon Israel, as the occupying Power, to abide scrupulously by the 1949 Fourth Geneva Convention, to rescind its previous measures and to desist from taking any action which would result in changing the legal status and geographical nature and materially affecting the demographic composition of the Arab territories occupied since 1967, including Jerusalem, and, in particular, not to transfer parts of its own civilian population into the occupied Arab territories;
4.
Establishes a Commission consisting of three members of the Security Council, to be appointed by the President of the Council after consultations with the members of the Council, to examine the situation relating to settlements in the Arab territories occupied since 1967, including Jerusalem;
5.
Requests the Commission to submit its report to the Security Council by 1 July 1979;
6.
Requests the Secretary-General to provide the Commission with the necessary facilities to enable it to carry out its mission.
7.
Decides to keep the situation in the occupied territories under constant and close scrutiny and to reconvene in July 1979 to review the situation in the light of the findings of the Commission.
