COMMENTARY
11:2
And the outside court of the shrine cast aside, and measure it not; for it was given to the nations: and they will trample the holy city forty-two months.
The Lord Jesus continues ...
(second-half of the split-week
of the final 7 of the 490-years)
11:3,4
And I will give to My two witnesses and they will prophesy a thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackclothes. These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands, standing before the Lord of the earth.
The final witness of His church
(second-half-of-seven-years)
11:5,6
And if anyone wishes to harm them, fire proceeds out of their mouth and devours their enemies; and if anyone should wish to harm them, in this way he is to be killed. These have the authority to shut heaven so that no rain may fall in the days of their prophecy, and they have authority over the waters to turn them into blood, and to strike the earth with every kind of plague, as often as they may wish.

11:7,8
And when they finish their witness, the beast coming up out of the abyss will make war with them, and will overcome them, and will kill them. And their corpses will be on the open street of the great city, which is called spiritually Sodom and Egypt, where their Lord was crucified.
Isaiah 1:10.
Jerusalem is called
Sodom and Gomorrah.
11:9,10
And some of the peoples and tribes and tongues and nations will see their dead bodies three and a half days, and they will not allow their corpses to be placed in a tomb. And those dwelling on the earth rejoice over them and are glad, and they will send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those dwelling on the earth.

11:11-13
And after three and a half days, the Spirit of life out of God entered into them, and they stood on their feet, and great fear fell on those seeing them.
And they heard a loud voice out of Heaven, saying to them,
'Come up here.'
And they went up into Heaven in the cloud; and their enemies saw them.
And in that hour a great earthquake occurred, and a tenth of the city fell; and those killed in the earthquake were seven thousand men, and the rest were terrified and gave glory to the God of Heaven.

11:14
The second Woe has passed; see, the third Woe is coming quickly.

11:15
7.7
And the seventh angel trumpeted; and there were loud voices in Heaven, saying,
'The kingdom of the world is become the kingdom of our Lord, and of His Christ:
and He shall reign forever and ever.'

11:16-18
And the twenty-four Seniors, sitting before God on their thrones, fell on their faces and worshipped God, saying:
'We thank you, Lord God, the Almighty, the One who is and who was;
because You have took Your great power and reigned.
And the nations raged, and Your wrath came,
and the time for the dead to be judged,
and to give reward to Your slaves, the prophets and the saints,
and to those fearing Your name, the small and the great;
and to destroy those destroying the earth.'

11:19
And the shrine of God in Heaven was opened, and the ark of His covenant was seen in His shrine, and lightnings, and voices, and thunders, and an earthquake, and great hail occurred.

12:1,2
And a great sign was seen in Heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon underneath her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars; and being pregnant she cried out, suffering birth-pains, and being in distress to be give birth.
Israel, identified by the symbols
of Joseph's dream
(Gen.37:9).
12:3,4
And another sign was seen in Heaven: and see, a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads seven diadems. And his tail draws a third of the stars of heaven, and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman about to be give birth, so that when she gives birth he might devour her child.
Satan
12:5,6
And she bore a son, a male, who is about to shepherd all the nations with an iron staff: and her child was caught away to God and to His throne.
And the woman fled into the desert, where she has a place prepared from God, so that there they might nourish her a thousand two hundred and sixty days.
The Christ.

The Church is witnessing while
Israel is protected in this time.
12:7-9
And war occurred in Heaven: Michael and his angels making war with the dragon. And the dragon warred and his angels, but did not have strength, not even place was found for them still in Heaven.
And the great dragon was thrown down, the old serpent, called Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole habitable earth; was thrown to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.
Satan's right to accuse
before the Throne ends,
when the Church completes
its obedience.
12:10-12
And I heard a loud voice in Heaven, saying,
'Now has come the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of His Christ,
for the Accuser of our brothers is thrown down, the one who accusing them before our God day and night.
And they overcame him because of the blood of the little Lamb,
and because of the word of their witness, and they loved not their life until death.
Therefore be glad, heavens, and the ones tabernacling in them.
Woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil came down to you having great anger, knowing that he has a short *time.'

Satan in his capacity as Accuser is

*1260 days before Christ returns
(the last half of Daniel's final week)
12:13
And when the dragon saw that he was thrown into the earth, he pursued the woman who bore the male.

12:14
And to the woman was given the two wings of the great eagle, so that she might fly into the desert into her place, where she is nourished there a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

12:15,16
And the serpent threw out of his mouth after the woman water as a river, so that he might make her to be carried off by the river. And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed the river which the dragon threw out of his mouth.
water = godless nations
earth = godfearing nations (not just the
USA) concerning the last holocaust.
12:17-13:1a
And the dragon was enraged over the woman, and went away to make war with the rest of her offspring, those keeping the commandments of God, and having the witness of Jesus; and he stood upon the sand of the sea.
Final persecution of Christians begins
13:1b
And I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns, and seven heads, and on its horns ten diadems, and on its heads names of blasphemy.
'sea': Antichrist's rule arises
from the godless nations.
13:2
And the beast which I saw was like a leopard, and its feet were like a bear, and its mouth like the mouth of a lion. And the dragon gave its power to it, and its throne, and great authority.
See Daniel 7:4-6 for governmental forms.
leopard = democratic appearance
bear = legislative process
lion = dictatorial rule
