The Purpose of God with Us
ἔσεσθε οὖν ὑμεῖς τέλειοι, ὥσπερ ὁ πατὴρ ὑμῶν ὁ ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς τέλειός ἐστιν
“You therefore must be perfect/complete, AS your Heavenly Father is perfect.”
As Jesus said:
Matthew 5:48.
GOD Himself is GIVEN in the beginning as our ROLE MODEL
1.1 The Spirit of God is the active agent of God's behaviour.
"The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep.
And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters..."
Genesis 1:2.
1.2 God's 7-day-week behaviour sets the pattern for all humanity.
"And on the seventh day God finished His work that He had done,
and He rested on the seventh day from all His work that He had done.
So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy
because on it God rested from all His work that He had done in creation."
Genesis 2:2-3.
We were MADE as His image to REPRESENT HIM
"God said, 'Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.
And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea
and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth
and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth'."
Genesis 1:26, 28.
human authority over nature ("fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion") was thus given directly because humanity was designed to represent its Creator.
This did not mean that humanity was free to rule as it saw fit, no more than an ambassador is free to speak personal opinion to those to whom he is sent. This means that human behaviour carries authority over all because it expresses the attitude, values, mind, and nature of the Creator of all things.

is why Jesus said to Sanhedrin council member Nicodemas that if one is 'born again' (of God's Spirit) then he/she is as free as the wind (Jn.3:8) from all external restraints/laws in order to obey the design of its own nature, for the nature of God within is now the source of behaviour. So –
"No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed [nature] abides in him,
and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God."
This new nature is nothing more than the nature of Jesus (humanity restored), which has been given by God to all believers through Christ's resurrection from the dead.
Has No Rules
1 John 3:9.
THIS representation of God is the GOSPEL as JESUS bore it HIMSELF
His arrest and crucifixion, the Lord Jesus Christ stated, to four enquiring disciples among His twelve leaders/apostles, concerning when the end of the world or age would come, that –
"THIS gospel of the kingdom [God's rule/authority]
will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations,
and then the end will come."
Matthew 24:14.
did He mean?
It was the 'gospel' which they had heard Him preaching over the three years of their leadership training during His public ministry to Israel: that is – the true/corrective revelation of God's character; which was so very different to the religious teaching of the Jewish leaders, particularly the Scribes and Pharisees (Matt.23; which is reflected today in the Jewish Talmud).
'gospel' was that?
Such as God being like 'a father awaiting the return of his prodigal son'; etc...: the true character of God.
Luke 15.
"this gospel" in the mouth of Jesus became more than simply Christ's teaching about God.
In His own person He Himself also then became the full transaction of this revealed character of God,
His atoning death, because God so loved the world/κόσμος/kosmos;   2 Corinthians 5:21; John 3:16.
His life-giving resurrection, for the regeneration of all believers; Ephesians 2:5.
His representative ascension on behalf of His Church; and, Ephesians 2:6.
His gift of His own Spirit-anointing for our continuing ministry today.   Ephesians 4:12-13.
this Gospel of Christ is the true revelation of God's character as it has been fully transacted in mercy for all who will believe.
Therefore we are to be busy –
1. Personal Self-Discipline
work of God begins as it began in the ministry of the Lord Jesus Himself, with sacrificial self-discipline, for to represent the authority of God's character begins closest to oneself, in one's own body with its changeable feelings. Therefore the sinless Jesus Himself began by fasting (self-denying prayer) in the isolation of the Judean desert for forty days. His example simply illustrates the underlying principle that to represent the character of God in His authority over His creation begins with applying that authority to one's relationship to one's own body as our first encounter with this created world around us.
2. The Lordship of the Spirit
relationship of the Holy Spirit is the vital factor as the active agent of God in the beginning, and as was demonstrated in the ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ when even the decision, after His anointing, to withdraw into fasting-prayer is described as –
"The Spirit immediately drove (ἐκβάλλω/ekballō) Him out into the wilderness."
Mark 1:12
authority and supernatural power frequently noted in the ministry of Jesus is ascribed in the Bible, not to His deity but to the relationship of the Holy Spirit. for It says of Jesus –
"But He would withdraw to desolate places and pray.
On one of those days, as He was teaching, ...the power of the Lord was with Him to heal."
Luke 5:16-17.
And when the healing of a woman with a 12-year haemorrhage interrupts His ministry to Jairus, it is also described as –
"Jesus, perceiving in Himself that power had gone out from Him,
immediately turned about in the crowd and said, "Who touched My garments?'"
Mark 5:30.
is not the power of Christ's deity! The Word of God ascribes this power to His anointing: that is, to His human relationship to the Holy Spirit of God, for instance – "Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee", which was given to all God's people at Pentecost in 30 AD/CE.
Luke 4:14.

Therefore every disciple of Jesus Christ is somewhere on this same four-step pathway
which then leads to the personal fulfillment of God's infinite purpose in that individual life which cannot be measured by any human intellect.
"...when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom."
2 Corinthians 3:16
