It is not just a coincidence when the Bible tells us that Elijah's ministry and the future coming End-time-climax are both 3½-years (42-months/1260-days). |
James 5:17, and Revelation 11:3, 9; 12:6, 14. |
In addition, | as Elijah's ministry ended in a supernatural climax, raptured by the angels of God, so also the history of Christ's Church in this world will likewise conclude with a supernatural rapture by the angels of God –
Mark 13:27. | |||
Elijah's historical ministry to the northern tribes of Israel is given to us as a Biblical analogy/type of the End Time climax of God's work through His Church – and it is not a comfortable one. |
Note that the timing of the commencement of this concluding-climax of Christ's Church is not set by any date whatsoever! |
It is set | only by the fulfilment of the inspired words of Jesus (recorded to instruct us) in answer to His disciple's question of "when..." –
Matthew 24:14. | |||
Satan can only move within the limits that God sets, and the Bible describes for us that the commencement of this coming concluding-climax occurs only when God ejects Satan as prosecutor/accuser from His judicial court, where, ever since the day of Pentecost, Satan has been lodging accusations (as he had tried concerning Job) against God's people for any form of disobedience in completing the mission mandated to them by Jesus. But in this completion of Christ's mandate,
Satan's access to that court as "Accuser of the brethren" now finally ends, and he is angry like never before! |
Job 1:6; 2:1; Revelation 12:10, 12. |
This future | ejection-event in Heaven commences these final 3½-years of this age. This time-period which the ejection triggers is also the remainder of the final 7-years which was prophesied by Gabriel to Daniel (9:24), and which was split by the crucifixion of Jesus as the prophesied Confirmer of God's covenant with Israel in that prophecy, and which then also initiated the hidden-time referred to by the Apostle Paul (Colossians 1:26; Ephesians 3:9), within which the real Christian mission today is continuing, in which there is neither Jew nor Greek (Galatians 3:8) or any other social division, toward its full and final completion in the whole world. |
It is | because of this special significance of Elijah's 3½-year ministry-period that it's concluding climax also needed to occur outside Israel’s Promised Land, for his experience represents this coming rapture of all Christians of every nationality at the end of this age, and so the waters of the Jordan river (2 Kings 2:6, 8) were therefore supernaturally opened for him to vacate Israel to represent all believers in his rapture by the angels of God. |
It is | to be noted however, that, as these final 3½-years only commence after Christ's Church has completed it mission, this final period is also a period of world-wide persecution-witness in which Christ's Church shares the sufferings of its Lord. |
