When "In the Beginning..." – Ends Forever
— from the human point of view, of course —
Genesis 1:1 (Old Testament) and John 1:1 (New Testament), use this phrase to
introduce God's creation and the direct human responsibility we all have for it.
When
the Bible says that human beings were made "in God's image" it is not speaking of shape or appearance, for God is infinite spirit, without shape or limit!
In the language and culture of the time in which it was written, it simply meant: to represent God, and therefore –
it next says that to humans was then given dominion over God's creation, which is a consequence of this.

It is this failure, of human responsibility, which has allowed rampant injustice to parade itself in human history:

such as the massacre of the innocent, the abuse of animals, and the tyranny of cruel and inhuman behaviour.

Did God make a mistake in giving responsibility that He knew would later be so abused?

In the close-up of human experience it seems so, but the Bible gives a bigger picture which puts the whole into perspective!

Many
have used the excuse of not believing in God because of the atrocities of injustice in human history, without understanding the degree of human responsibility and that therefore God does not micro-manage and only intervenes within the field of human responsibility on request (prayer) that is appropriate to His presence, for Heaven is not God's home. It is the court of ultimate justice, as portrayed in the opening chapters of the book of Job in the Old Testament.

The return of the Lord Jesus Christ in power as a resurrected human is the end of this tyranny of injustice!

After
His resurrection, Jesus met with His disciples on a mountain in Galilee and stated to them –
"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of
[on behalf of] the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
"
Matthew
28:18-20

Only in His return, then will humanity's historical responsibility for justice be brought to an end,
because humanity will then become what it was originally designed to be in representing God to His creation.
Genesis 1:26-28.
For that reason
therefore –

the Enemy of God's affection does all he can to delay the obedience of Christ's Church to bring this present time to its full completion, for –
"this gospel [εὐαγγέλιον good news] of the kingdom [authority of God] will be proclaimed throughout the whole world
as a testimony to all nations, and THEN the End will come
."
Matthew 24:14
So, at the Ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ, as a resurrected human, to the right hand of God's throne,
God the Father says directly to Him, which is recorded for our understanding today –
"Sit at My right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool"  as a precondition for His return in power, for:
"Your people will offer themselves freely on the day of Your power"
Psalm 110:1 and 3.
