Nature's New Beginning
Daniel 9:25-26. Matthew 24:21-22 Romans 8:21.
In 30 AD Jesus said to Israel's high priest: "FROM NOW ON you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven." (Matthew 26:64).
[But if this Hidden Time, within the split of Daniel's final 'week', is completely ignored then Jesus Second Coming had to have been in October 33 AD!]

Remember:
Daniel had received insight into the future, stretching from his own time until the coming of God's kingdom. This came in two parallel revelations (the human-image of four metal powers over Israel, brought down by God's stone kingdom, Dan.2:44; and the animal-images of these powers, Babylon to Rome, which would give way to God's kingdom, Daniel 7:27), meant that in the time of this fourth empire God's messianic kingdom would come to Israel.
1God's "hardening" of Israel also now ends (Romans 11:25).
2The length of this time is not set to help date-fixing. It is set to encourage those in-this-time to endure!
 
Messiah did come in due time, but the split between His public 3½-year ministry as Sower and His yet future return a Reaper was completely hidden from Daniel and from all the prophets, including John the Baptist. The Book of Daniel concluded with this very significant statement –
  "Go your way, Daniel, for the words are shut up and sealed* until the time of the end."
Daniel 12:10. *Is not understood until then, which started when Jesus began His ministry at the end of the 483'rd year, which He referred to as the –
"time of your visitation"
(Luke 19:44).
Hidden-Time hidden!
In Chapter Nine of Daniel, our understanding of God's answer to his prayer for Israel's full restoration needs an awareness from us that certain aspects of this fulfilment were deliberately and necessarily hidden from all, until Christ came, or we will simply not understand God's revelation to Daniel and its application to us today.
It was
in the beginning of the Persian empire, after Babylon had fallen, that Daniel beseeches God to fully restore His destroyed city Jerusalem, His people and His temple, as God had promised to the Jewish Exiles in Jeremiah's prophesied "seventy years" limit on their Babylonian captivity (Jeremiah 29:10). (See: Daniel 9:17-19).
Hidden-Time hidden!
God's angel brings the answer to this prayer – that Israel's full restoration, for which Daniel had so earnestly asked and which was so much more than simply ending their Exile, will only come after seven times these "seventy years" (490-years), beginning from the end of their seventy-year-exile, Haggai 2:18-19). This whole period is counted by the angel in Sevens (weeks of years) because the basis of Israel's seventy-year-captivity/exile period was their failure to implement God's seven-year agricultural cycle for their land (2 Chronicles 36:21-22).
So the full
answer to Daniel's petition is described by the angel, in terms he would have clearly understood, as –
 
 
"Seventy weeks [sevens] are decreed about your people and your holy city,
to finish the transgression, to put an end to sin, and to atone for iniquity,
to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal both vision and prophet, and to anoint a most holy place."
70 x 7 = 490 years
of 360-days each!
Daniel 9:24 .
These
70-Sevens, or 490-years, are the old/original earth-years of 360-days each (from before Noah's Flood), that is exactly 176,400 days. This angel of God (from whom the future Hidden Time had also been hidden) then breaks this 490-year period into 7-Sevens plus 62-Sevens (69-Sevens, or 483-years) until the "anointed one" (Messiah) comes to Israel.
 
 
This "Anointed One" who is to be "cut off" will confirm the Covenant (בְּרִית הִגְבִּיר) with many (note: not 'make', but גּבר gâbar, 'strengthen')* for the final Seven (Daniel 9:27) of this 490-year period, which eventually results in the full restoration of Israel as a nation, as Daniel had prayed.
*Unfortunately, careless study has created the impression that this is Antichrist making a covenant with Israel. Antichrist, when he comes, will pretend to confirm God's covenant with Israel and then, after winning trust, will place his image in the Jerusalem temple.

Christ not Antichrist!
This gâbar or strengthening of God's Covenant with Israel has been falsely interpreted as the Antichrist making a seven-year covenant with Israel to build its temple. The primary reason for this confusion is the failure to understand that this prophecy necessarily contained a double-meaning just as was contained in Isaiah's prophecy of the virgin-birth of Jesus regarding that mother and her Immanuel sign-child to Ahaz.
 
There, the sign-child to king Ahaz (Isaiah's future son Maher-shalal-hash-baz 'In-speed-spoil-booty-hastens') was that this coming child would not be old enough to know the difference between good and bad before Jerusalem would be delivered from its enemies (Isaiah 7:14-16), but the pre-Christian Jewish Septuagint translators, understanding the idiom's dual significance in the text carried by the Hebrew terminology, translated the term as 'virgin' for a Greek speaking audience, for its secondary meaning pointed to the future birth of Israel's Messiah.
Christ and Antichrist!
Likewise in the words conveyed to Daniel (9:26), the two persons – the 'Anointed' (the Christ) and the 'the prince who is to come' (the Antichrist), indicate a dual significance in the ending of the temple's ritual sacrifice. This distinction-clue was built into the revelation of this last Week of the Seventy, but understanding it needed to be withheld until the awesome completion of this Messiah's four holy Jerusalem works.
 
  "And after the sixty-two weeks, an anointed one [Messiah] shall be cut off and shall have nothing.
And the people of the prince who is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary..."
Daniel 9:26.
At this
time Daniel is very aware, hence his prayer, that the temple had already been destroyed. But the angel now speaks of a yet future or second destruction of this temple. We know today that this happened under the Romans (70AD/CE), the fourth 'beast' empire after Babylon that would rule Israel according to the vision of Daniel Seven. And understandably then, John the Baptist, the angels of God, and Satan himself, expected Jesus as Messiah to end this Gentile domination of Israel under Rome and fully restore Israel as a nation. It was to subvert this anticipated purpose of the Christ that Satan entered into Judas Iscariot (Luke 22:3) in order to have Israel's Messiah crucified before He could do this (not knowing the purpose of the Cross).
Hallelujah!
 
This dual termination message of the temple sacrifice was hidden in these two figures, Christ and Antichrist in verse 26, for those alone with New Covenant insight into this carefully structured prophecy.

An
example of this deliberately delayed New Covenant insight into Old Covenant prophecy (understood only after the event) is also Isaiah's 'Branch' prophecy – (נצר nētzer, 11:1). Matthew let's us know later that this was a prophecy that the Messiah would be from Nazareth (2:23) – necessarily later, for if it had been understood beforehand the vicious childhood massacre in Bethlehem could have come to Nazareth in His childhood.
This Hidden Time (of the New Testament's 'Mystery of the Kingdom') still continues today –  
 
• from the positive ending of the temple's daily ritual "sacrifice and offering" in Christ's atonement sacrifice to God (ending all sacrifice as far as God is concerned; see Heb.10) –
• until its future negative ending, after temple restoration by misguided Jewish ritual worship, when the site is violated by Antichrist's image set up in their holy place to be worshipped.
 
 
This future negative ending, confirmed by the Lord Jesus (see below), commences the final 3½ year countdown (the second half of Israel's final Seven of the 490-years) to Israel's full national restoration before God, for which Daniel had so ardently prayed.

  "And He [the 'anointed one' or Messiah, of the previous verse] shall confirm (גּבר gâbar) Covenant with many for one week (seven):
and in the midst of the week He shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease;
and on the wing of abominations shall come one* who makes desolate until the decreed end is poured out on the desolator."

This phrase
in the angel's final sentence –
"and on the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate"
has variant textual readings reflecting some very old manuscript versions of the book of Daniel.
 Pre-Christian Jewish Septuagint:  
  καὶ ἐπὶ τὸ ἱερὸν βδέλυγμα τῶν ἐρημώσεων – “and upon the temple there shall be the abomination of desolation”  
 The Latin Vulgate of Jerome:  
et in templo erit abominatio  “and in the temple there shall be abomination”
 13th Century Hebrew MS:  
ובהיכל יהיה שיקוץ – “and in the temple there shall be abomination”
 
Christ's Sign of the End: 
Thus, at the very end of the Christ's 3½-year public ministry, He the Lord explained this same final-count-down sign as –
 
"So when you [His disciples] see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place
(let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains."

Matthew 24:15-16.
For
this sign also inaugurates, during this unique worst of times, the demonstration of the Christian Church's identity as Christ's Body, the real authoritative continuance and completion of Christ's ministry on earth –
Revelation 11.
  "Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I do;
and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father."
John 14:12.
If the Hidden Time, in the split of Daniel's final 'week', is ignored, then this Second Coming really came in October 33 AD! And did it?
This climactic conclusion of the Christian Church was prefigured in the 3½-year confrontational ministry of Elijah which climaxed in his being visibly supernaturally caught up, as the Church will be in a visible resurrection to her descending Lord at His glorious Return! Hallelujah!
 
"For the Lord Himself will descend from Heaven
with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God.
And the dead in Christ will rise first.
Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air,
and so we will always be with the Lord"
(to participate in His rule).
